Twitter Sizes and Dimensions (2019 Updated)

To ensure your Twitter profile is attractive and looks professional, it’s vital that you design the images for your account with the correct Twitter sizes. Doing so will ensure your images and videos are sharp and displayed correctly both on mobile and desktop. Failing to use the appropriate sizes and dimensions could result in your media being blurry.

Twitter profile picture size

The recommended dimensions for Twitter profile pictures is 400×400 pixels. The profile picture must be either a JPEG, GIF, or PNG file format and less than 2MB in file size.

Twitter header size (banner size)

The correct Twitter header size is 1500 x 500 pixels. Just like with the above, Twitter header images must be either a JPEG or PNG. If you’re struggling to create a header photo with the Twitter header size, it might be worth finding one from Twitter’s library of header photos. Twitter headers are also known as Twitter banners and are still the same sizes.

Twitter picture size

For the best quality when sharing images on Twitter, we would recommend using the Twitter picture size of 1024 x 512 pixels. If you would rather use a square based image, consider using the size 1080 x 1080 pixels. These can be in either JPEG, PNG or GIF file formats.

Twitter video size

When it comes to sharing videos on Twitter, you’re able to record directly from your smartphone or upload one from your device or desktop. The minimum resolution for your Twitter videos is 32 x 32 pixels, the maximum resolution is 1920 x 1200 and 1200 x 1900. The Aspect ratios are 1:2.39 – 2.39:1 range (inclusive).

Currently, Twitter supports MP4 and MOV video formats when uploading on mobile apps. Or, if you’re uploading via a desktop, you’ll be able to use MP4 video format with H264 format with AAC audio. You can upload videos up to 512MB in size. Videos must be no longer than 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
